5 DIY Ways To Level Up Your Skincare Routine With Clean Ingredients

It’s time to ditch the constant rotation of skincare products every time you see a new mask or serum blow up on your social feeds. As a fellow skincare and beauty addict, the struggle to refrain from impulsive buys is an absolute struggle! Of course, trying that one beauty product you’ve been dreaming of for the last month is probably something you can treat yourself to every once in a while. If you’re looking to minimize any excess impulse buys, look no further than your pantry for the solution. Believe it or not, it is easy to find some simple skincare hacks using products you probably already have sitting in your kitchen ready to DIY. In an effort to improve that Winter skincare routine and get it ready to glow this Spring, here are a few easy ways to make your own DIY skincare routine.

Dry skin? Hydrate with an avocado face mask.

Avocados have amazing benefits for the skin. They are full of vitamins C and E which help to boost collagen production and soothe inflammation. Avocados are also a great source of biotin that aids in hydrating dry skin. A quick face mask can be made by mashing half an avocado along with half of a banana. Bananas contain nutrients that also aid in hydration, soothing inflammation, and boosting collagen. Once both are mashed, chill in the fridge and apply! For the best results, leave on for about 20 minutes for some extra hydration.

Under eye bags? Use green tea bags.

Who would have guessed that green tea is the perfect remedy for puffy eyes and under-eye bags? After steeping two bags of green tea to enjoy, squeeze and remove the excess liquid. Freeze two green tea bags you were going to toss out for about 5 min. Make sure your hands are clean, keep the liquid out of your eyes, and place them over your eyes for up to 20 minutes and relax! Your eyes will love this little refresh.

Need a spot treatment? Try tea tree oil.

Tea tree oil has great antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that are helpful in calming redness and swelling. It is also known for preventing acne scarring that your skin will thank you for. You can use this as a spot treatment by adding a few drops on a q-tip or cotton round and dotting it on the breakout overnight. You can also make a DIY toner by doing a 2:1 ratio of tea tree and witch hazel in a spray bottle.

Brighten your skin with the help of oats!

Ground down oats and a splash of water make the perfect exfoliating skin brightening mask. Only add enough water to create a paste consistency for this mask. This mask helps restore the natural barrier of your skin, while hydrating and calming at the same time. You’ll love the results of the revived skin you’ll have after only 10 minutes of wear.

Try a natural cleanser using apple cider vinegar.

Apple cider vinegar easily removes dirt and oil when diluted with water and used as a facial cleanser. All you need is a ¼ cup of water and a tablespoon of ACV for this DIY. This is a great alternative to harsh chemical-heavy cleansers for when your skin needs a break. You can also mix apple cider vinegar with your favorite natural calcium bentonite clay mask for a deep clean of your pores. Your skin will thank you!
