2020 was chaotic, to say the least. Let’s set ourselves up for a hard reset in 2021. Who’s ready?
We are all in need of a little recharging and a clean slate after the wild ride 2020 truly was. It is safe to say that everyone really went through it in every shape and form. Although the world around us seemed as if it were crumbling, we all survived it. Cheers to the year that we all thought would never end, and to the cultural reset that will ensue in 2021. Here is our guide to grounding and resetting ourselves for an optimistic year to come.

Set the vibe and light a candle.
This is the go-to candle company we are obsessing over. Sundip Candle Co. has the most relaxing scent called, “Tranquility 05” which really melts the stress away. The lavender, chamomile, and camphor add a restorative touch. While sage and rosemary pair to brighten with aromatic wood to promote good energy in your environment. Pair this candle with a relaxing bath you’ll have all the good vibes you’ll need. Truly the most peaceful and tranquil addition to your space in 2021.
Cleanse your gut!
This is an incredible read for those looking to restore their gut health. It’s about to be 2021, it is time to start talking about gut health and ways to heal your body starting with the foods we eat. “Medical Medium: Secrets Behind Chronic and Mystery Illness and How to Finally Heal” by Anthony William goes into ways the medical community misunderstands or diagnoses various diseases. William dives into the ways the emotional body impacts physical diseases and ways we can better understand illnesses.
Reset your mindset.
This self-help book, “How to Win Friends & Influence People” by Dale Carnegie, is full of tips for having effective and successful relationships in business and in your personal life. This book goes over ways to make people like you, winning people to your way of thinking, and nine ways to change people without arousing resentment. Relationships can be stressful to navigate, but Carnegie takes that pressure off by giving some solid advice that will help you reach your full potential!
Hand pressure points to relieve stress.
This Naam yoga hand trick helps with easing tension by applying pressure to specific areas of your hand. When pressure is applied at the base of your pointer and middle fingers, you’ll find yourself instantly calmer! This stress relief trick helps to provide an instant reset that 2020 has us all feeling like we are in need of.
Be mindful of what’s bringing you down.
Practicing mindfulness by journaling will help you significantly! “The Five Minute Journal” is such a powerful tool to jot a few things about your day down, especially for those who are new to journaling. Positive psychology is incorporated to improve overall happiness. Writing down a few things you are grateful for will easily help uplift your mood and analyze how you are feeling. This journal incorporates psychology research to invoke more joy and optimism while helping you feel less anxious or isolated.
Go for a run and get some fresh air.
A little bit of movement will help release the tension of stress and the hardships of the day that we tend to harvest in our bodies. Sometimes a change of scenery really helps to physically change the environment and ease anxiety. Even something small like taking stroll around your neighborhood to a local coffee shop is a great option as well. If leaving the house is not on the agenda, taking time to sit and do a guided meditation or a gentle Yin yoga session will help take your mind off of any stressors around you and will help with decompressing.
Chew A Piece Of Gum.
A study on gum chewing and the effects of stress found that those who chew gum more frequently, had significantly lower levels of stress and anxiety. Gum chewing is found to be a tension reliever that helps with anxiety and stress reduction. If you’re ever in need of a quick way to relieve anxiety, popping a stick of gum will give you relief!
Nothing does it like a good laugh.
Listen, after the year that we’ve had, I think we could all use a little more laughter in our lives. Binge watching @bennydrama7 IGTV videos normally do the trick. He has a variety of comedy videos poking fun at all of our favorite pop culture icons and more.
Breathe Deeply, meditate.
Taking the time to just breathe and be present in the moment is self care. We dedicate so much time to our responsibilities, it is absurd to not take an hour or few minutes of your day to take care of ourselves. An easy way to do this is through meditation. Headspace is a great app for guided meditation and so are helpful youtube videos. “Journey to the Heart: Daily Meditations on the Path to Freeing Your Soul” by Melody Beattie is an inspirational book that focuses on daily meditations. This book helps us to think and connect more deeply within ourselves.
Step away from the screen.
Get off of socials for the day, stop scrolling Tik Tok and Instagram and unplug. A lot of the time this just adds to more anxiety because of too much screen time. Mindless scrolling is just that, mindless. Trying to be more present and mindful of where you spend your time and energy will only make you realize Instagram probably isn’t the best place to spend your days. Replace this with one of our incredible options listed above. Trust us, you won’t regret it and you’ll feel tons better afterwards.
When all else fails… WINE!
It is okay to rest, especially if you’re feeling stressed or anxious. Being at home most days can be hard because it almost blurs the line between work and play. That is why it is so important to take time for yourself in little ways. If buying a weighted blanket and fuzzy slippers to binge watch “Friends”, do it! Add a glass of wine and your cuddly pet to the mix and you’re in full relaxation mode. It’s been a hard year, and you are more than deserving of a little rest and relaxation!
